6 Quick B2B Video Marketing Tips
Adding B2B video marketing to your website might seem straightforward, but it's important to get it right to provide the best experience for your visitors and for you to gain maximum benefit.
So here's a few tips to help you get started:
Tip #1 - Don't hide your video away
Video is probably the most interesting and engaging thing about your website - certainly more attention grabbing than paragraphs of text, a couple of photos and a brochure.
We recommend that your video should take center stage, either on the home page or at the top of a relevant product or landing page.
Tip #2 - Get the viewing size right
The visual size of your video should be appropriate to the content of the video AND the content of your web page. Not too small (so visitors can't see what's happening) and not too large (so that the video takes forever to load).
Tip #3 - Choose the right viewing format
Should the video be wide-screen or like a standard TV screen? A widescreen format can add drama to a video, whilst a standard TV screen format will give you more vertical space to play with.
Tip #4 - Optimise the bit-rate
The size of your video file compared to how long the video playing time is (known as the bit-rate) should be low enough so that video loads quickly but high enough so that the picture quality is good to excellent. We find that a bit-rate of around 450kbps usually works well for the online marketing videos we produce.
Tip #5 - Choose the right encoding
Much of the the above depends greatly on the encoding of the video. For a technical tip, try MPEG-4 with H.264 encoding and AAC audio. Trust us, it looks and sounds great!
Tip #6 - Choose the right video player
As well as your actual video file, you'll also need to upload some video player software so that visitors can watch the video on your website. We use and recommend Flowplayer (www.flowplayer.com) - it's well designed, simple to use and there's even a free version.
